Kanon Success Journey: How INDIES Prepared him for a New Academic Environment

Gentem Lifelong Learning Group is proud to celebrate the achievement of Kanon, an INDIES member who has successfully begun his studies in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience BSc (Hons) at the University of Nottingham Malaysia.

Before joining INDIES, Kanon took the GenAcePrep (GAP) class to improve his IELTS score. As he learned more about studying abroad, he realized that there was more to prepare for than just the IELTS. This led him to join INDIES and the UniPrep Programme.

Through the INDIES UniPrep programme, we helped him to prepare for the next stage of studying abroad, including academic life, cultural adjustment, and adapting to an international university environment.

During the programme, Kanon learned more about communicating with professors, joining student clubs, attending university events, and using these opportunities to meet people and build connections. He shared that UniPrep helped him understand parts of university life that he had not previously considered, even after doing his own research online.

INDIES also continued to offer support after his acceptance, including developing practical skills in CV writing, personal branding, networking, and internship preparation, helping him think not only about starting university, but also about making the most of future opportunities during his studies.

Kanon’s journey reflects INDIES’ approach to study abroad: support students prepare for what comes next, so they can enter their international university journey ready to learn, adapt, connect, and grow.
